COACHES GUIDELINES
Match Responsibilities:
Coaches are responsible for explaining course rules and reviewing CIF Behavior Etiquette before each match. The Coach must remain on the site for the duration of the match.
Coaches are not allowed to coach players during a match. They should encourage speed of play, in agreement with both coaches.
Each Match will consist of three (3) groups of four (4) players, plus one (1) group of coaches. On City of San Diego Courses, the coaches group will consist of one (1) coach from each school competing, plus one (1) practice player from each team. This means that assistant coaches will not be allowed to play. As the Visiting Team, please inform the Home Team Coach, before the match, if you will be bringing a practice player to the match.
The coach's responsibility during a match is that of a Supervisor. The Players are responsible for all of their own rulings. One player from each team must agree on each ruling. If the players cannot reach a resolution to the ruling at that time, they must make a note on their card, play a second ball under the rules of "a second ball", and then bring it to the attentions of the "Committee" ( the coaches ) before the scorecard is signed. The Committee will make the final resolution.
All players must attest to the score they shot on each hole, and then sign the card. The Team Captains will then total the scores, determining the final Team Scores. Once the score has been agreed to by both Team Captains, the Match is officially over.
Post Match Responsibilities:
The Home Team is responsible for calling in the results of the Match to the San Diego Tribune, (619) 293-1341.
Both Teams are responsible for E-Mailing the match results to dthoennes@usdhs.org as soon as possible. The League Website, www.oamweb.com/sports/sdcsgc, will act as the official record for the San Diego City Schools Golf Conference this year. The match date, team scores, players scores, course played, and differential used must be reported.
CIF requires that each team and player must play at least ten (10) matches on rated courses to be considered for post season play. In addition, players must participate in the City Conference Tournament at the end of the year to be eligible for post season play.
